Service Script for 6 September: 6 September 2020 A Proper 18 - Service Script = Word Document 6 September 2020 A Proper 18 - Service Script = .pdf
With the timing of our regathering for in-person public worship and addressing the various technical challenges that have presented themselves, yours truly hasn’t had a chance for a little down time. We normally spend a couple of weeks in the Adirondacks each summer, but New York is in a “Don’t call us, we’ll call you” mode, with respect to visitors from many states including Maryland. So, no long car trips.
However, I’m going to try to take the week from 31 August through 5 September off. I have some work to do around the house and would love to dive into a little escapist fiction, and perhaps a biography. Thanks to the crew that is leading Compline while I’m off-camera — including a beloved voice from the past, a certain retired surgeon, who will lead us from his new home west of here. The internet does wonderful things!
I have had yet another inquiry (the week of August 24th) about checks written to Emmanuel and mailed to us weeks ago that haven’t been deposited. Trust me, we deposit everything we get as soon as we can! At least part of the issue is that we have temporarily closed our street address (303 N. Main Street) and asked that all mail be delivered to our PO Box 628. Unfortunately, that means that the mail must be forwarded — a process that, apparently, involves shipping it from Bel Air to a distribution center in White Marsh and then back to Bel Air. And in case you haven’t heard, the new Postmaster General of the United States has changed up some of the rules by which mail is handled, eliminating much of the highest technology that has been used. The result is that mail across the country has been dramatically slowed. Our experience is proof of this.
So, please, if you are mailing us a check, use the PO Box 628, Bel Air, MD 21014 address. Please also consider using our PayPal button, at the Online Giving tab above. (If you do, please remember that PayPal keeps 3%, so if you can throw in a little extra, that would be great — you’ll get it back in “points” anyway!)
Emmanuel’s website is moving to a new host server and will be produced with the assistance of a new company, Worship Times. The result will be a more secure platform and a navigation system that will be easier to use.
If you’ve ever had a suggestion/complaint/comment about our website, now is the time to share it. We want it to be a useful repository of information as well as a public invitation to join us and our ministries.
When it is up and running you will be able to access it through our normal address (URL to those who like Geek speak).
Thank you for your patience during this process.
