Early Notice for our October Trip to Washington Cathedral

The cover of our Trumpet newsletter, and my essay inside, both draw our attention to the trip we have planned to The Cathedral Church of Sts. Peter & Paul, AKA Washington Cathedral, AKA the National Cathedral. In our haste to get things done early this week (so as to really be able to take Memorial Day as a holiday) the actual schedule of the day, 10 October 2012 was omitted. It is as follows:

Depart 10:30 a.m.

Holy Eucharist 12:00 noon

Organ Demonstration 12:30 p.m.

Cathedral Tour 1:00 p.m.

Tea 2:45 p.m.

Depart for home 3:30 p.m.

We are giving such early notice because we want to be able to invite other Harford Countians to join us if there is room, but we want to be sure that everyone from Emmanuel who wants to go has a chance to sign up first. As you will learn from the Trumpet essay, I was “Scholar-in-Residence” at the Cathedral many years ago. It has been decades since I have been on the official tour, and I am looking forward to being part of the group this fall. (Though someone ought to bring along a gag in case I can’t stop talking about my favorite bits!)
